Roger Abel Training Services in conjunction with Life Saving Victoria is the premier provider of Pool Lifeguard and Bronze Medallion courses in Victoria and delivers to more lifeguards and aquatic supervisors than any other organisation. The course proudly combines RLSSA standards with Victoria’s best trainers and resources. Full and update courses are delivered weekly from a wide range of the best aquatic venues in Victoria. This course is recommended for any person wishing to achieve employment as a lifeguard in the aquatic industry and is a required qualification for staff in this position. It is also recommended for those involved in aquatic exercise, swim coaching or those who are responsible for the supervision and safety of people in and around swimming pools. This course will equip candidates with the skills and knowledge required to supervise swimming pool users. The course focus includes pool surveillance, scanning techniques, rescue skills, oxygen resuscitation and emergency care. This course requires candidates to hold the following prerequisite unit:
HLTAID003 Provide first aid
Candidates are to provide this evidence to us by:
mailing us a Certified True copy of the Statement of Attainment prior to the course OR
by bringing the original Statement of Attainment and a copy (for us to retain) with you to the course.

Participants in this course (Pool Lifeguard) are advised that there are no designated exit points in this program. For assessment purposes, trainer observation is conducted over the duration of the program and both practical and theory assessments are conducted in the final sessions of the last day. To ensure these assessment requirements are met, participants are to attend all sessions and successfully complete all assessments to be considered for an award. Provide First Aid

Almost 10 million people are admitted to Australian hospitals each year as the result of an accident or injury. Any one of us may have to perform first aid at some point in our lives and it is vital that all Victorians can confidently take control of a potentially life threatening emergencies until professional assistance arrives. Roger Abel Training First Aid Courses in Melbourne was formerly known as level 2 first aid / workplace first aid and is recommended for any person employed as an occupation health and safety or first aid representatives or who needs the qualification for their work. It is also recommended for anybody working as a care worker, sports coach, trainer, educator, or a person working in a high risk environment. The prevalence of asthma continues to increase with over 2 million Australians affected by this condition. These courses are recommended for any person responsible for the care of a person with an asthma or an anaphylaxis allergy. It is particularly recommended for teachers, child care staff, care workers, sports coaches, trainers and parents / guardians. This course will equip candidates to safely assist an individual with an asthmatic condition in an emergency situation. The course focus includes asthma management, preventative measures, recognition, casualty response and the safe use of a bronchodilators. Anaphylaxis

The prevalence of asthma continues to increase with over 2 million Australians affected by this condition. The impact of anaphylaxis is also continuing to increase with almost 20% of all Australians now having at least one allergic disease. These courses are recommended for any person responsible for the care of a person with an asthma or an anaphylaxis allergy. It is particularly recommended for teachers, child care staff, care workers, sports coaches, trainers and parents / guardians. This course will equip candidates to safely assist an individual who is suffering from an anaphylactic reaction in an emergency situation. The course focus includes understanding anaphylaxis, risk minimisation and auto-injector administration. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

The CPR training course is ideal for all Victorians, but in particular those who have the responsibility for the care of another or have the duty of care towards a person in their personnel or professional lives. Defibrillation

Cardiovascular disease affects one in six Australians and is the leading cause of heart attacks and cardiac arrests which kill one Australian every 12 minutes. Currently around 4 million people are affected by a cardiovascular disease with an Australian having a heart attack every 10 minutes on average. This course is recommended for any person responsible for the care of a person with a known cardiovascular disease, an elderly person or a person with known poor health. It is also recommended for care workers and those involved in sports coaching and activities due to the recent increase in heart attacks in younger Victorians. This course will equip candidates to safely use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in an emergency situation. The course focus includes cardiac rhythms, action of the heart and the safe storage/use of an AED unit. This course requires candidates to hold the following prerequisite unit: HLTAID003 Provide First Aid  OR  PUAEME001B Provide Emergency Care OR HLTFA211A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
