All training & assessment provided by Roger Abel Training Services is delivered under the auspice of Life Saving Victoria RTO Code 21799 & is the premier provider of Pool Lifeguard and Bronze Medallion courses in Victoria and delivers to more lifeguards and aquatic supervisors than any other organisation. The course proudly combines RLSSA standards with Victoria’s best trainers and resources. Full and update courses are delivered weekly from a wide range of the best aquatic venues in Victoria.

This course is recommended for any person wishing to achieve employment as a lifeguard in the aquatic industry and is a required qualification for staff in this position. It is also recommended for those involved in aquatic exercise, swim coaching or those who are responsible for the supervision and safety of people in and around swimming pools.

This course will equip candidates with the skills and knowledge required to supervise swimming pool users. The course focus includes pool surveillance, scanning techniques, rescue skills, oxygen resuscitation and emergency care.

Pool Lifeguard Training Courses

Prerequisite:

This course requires a reasonable level of fitness & sound swimming ability. It is recommended that candidates are 16 years in the calendar year they undertake the course. Candidates must hold the current HLTAID003 Provide first aid or HLTAID011 Provide first aid Statement of Attainment prior to attending the course.

Candidates attending an update course must hold a current Pool Lifeguard Statement of Attainment prior to attending the course.

Validity Period:

The Statement of Attainment is valid for 12 months.

HLTAID011 Provide first aid.

Candidates are to provide this evidence to us by:

mailing us a Certified True copy of the Statement of Attainment prior to the course OR
by bringing the original Statement of Attainment and a copy (for us to retain) with you to the course.
Successful completion of this course will result in the issuance of the units of competency:
SISCAQU019 Supervise patron safety in aquatic locations.
SISCAQU020 Perform water rescues.
SISCAQU021 Perform complex water rescues.
SISCAQU022 Provide oxygen resuscitation & therapy in an aquatic environment.
HLTAID011 Provide first aid (Credit Transfer)
HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Participants in this course (Pool Lifeguard) are advised that there are no designated exit points in this program. For assessment purposes, trainer observation is conducted over the duration of the program and both practical and theory assessments are conducted in the final sessions of the last day. To ensure these assessment requirements are met, participants are to attend all sessions and successfully complete all assessments to be considered for an award.

A Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a government requirement for all accredited training activities. If you have previously provided LSV with your USI, it will be available in the ‘My Details’ tab of your LSV training profile and you do not need to do anything further. If you do not have a USI, you can create one at: www.usi.gov.au/students and then provide it to LSV.

Assessment:
The course assessment includes a theory assessment using a variety of question types and a range of practical assessment activities.
The theory assessment is completed online for blended course candidates. Practical assessment activities are completed during the
face-to-face delivery of the course for all candidates.

Employment:
This training has been designed in line with the RLSSA Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations, Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines and best practice water safety principles and practices. Whilst it is nationally recognised, successful course completion does not guarantee employment.

Any one of us may have to perform first aid at some point in our lives and it is vital that all Victorians can confidently take control of a potentially life-threatening emergencies until professional assistance arrives.

Roger Abel Training First Aid Courses in Melbourne was formerly known as level 2 first aid / workplace first aid and is recommended for any person employed as an occupation health and safety or first aid representatives or who needs the qualification for their work. It is also recommended for anybody working as a care worker, sports coach, trainer, educator, or a person working in a high-risk environment.

Roger Abel Training Melbourne first aid courses will equip candidates to manage life threatening emergencies until professional medical help arrives. The first aid course focuses includes CPR, treatment of common medical conditions and situation recognition and management.

Successful completion of this first aid course will result in the award of:

HLTAID011 Provide first aid.

HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support.

HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
